Getting unstuck is hard when you keep doing the same. What helped me is a catastrophic failure, that acts like a brain reset and a mental liberation of a project. You can also experiment with completely different projects, those can catalyze new ideas and new energy, like taking a small bet.

Starting a completely new project is a great approach and I like that since it takes your mind off your immediate goals. Thanks for sharing David.

Ha, man! I’ve been trying to turn around those moments or be better at handling them for the past years.

It’s just so hard to turn them around when you’re in the middle of it. From what I’m experiencing it’s a muscle to flex. Mindfulness and journaling help with getting that perspective and getting better at dealing with discomfort. But still hard to do 😅

I’ve also find that sometimes a break is in order. If I’m sick or tired, it affects my mood and generates those random negative thoughts. Usually, taking a break helps a lot to “purge” those thoughts. It might take a day or two to get back to normal.

Anyway, I’m so happy for you you managed to turn those negative feelings around and get a win out of it. No better thing to do with bad experiences than to make something positive out of it :)

Thanks for sharing Kunal. There is a huge incentive in the indie world to focus on wins . But obv many - almost certainly most people- get stuck like this. Last fall my daughter brought home something from daycare which triggered something even worse for me and I was hospitalized 4 times in a month for respiratory issues. Besides the health issue the loss of momentum was bugging me just as much.

To me the pursuit of the goal is worth more than the outcome and some lowlights are inevitable and the challenge that makes it worth it but hope you get over this hump. And ultimately physical and mental health should always be prioritized over anything else so I hope you bounce back on both accounts .

Thank you Bill for sharing your story.

"I was hospitalized 4 times in a month for respiratory issues." - Ouch. That must have been terrible.

I agree with you on "To me the pursuit of the goal is worth more than the outcome" and for the most part that has been steering my journey too.

The speed bumps are bad. But they become navigatable with the support system you build around you. Tbh this newsletter community is a big part of that.
