Reading through a book "designing your life" mentions how we all have alternate lives that are just as equally fulfilling.
There us no 1 true path!
But it does Sound like building your software company has been an amazing experience and is better aligned with the family centric life you wanted.
We design our life through experimentation trial and error but most of all - taking chances !
